Every child deserves a childhood full of safety, learning, and love. At CharityGo, our CharityGo program exists to make that vision a reality for children in vulnerable communities. Through local partnerships, daily support, and long-term care, we provide children with the resources they need to grow into healthy, confident, and capable individuals. But what does that really look like?

Let us take you into the life of one of our program participants — a young girl named Lina — to see how the power of daily care can transform a child’s future.

Morning: A Safe Start and a Warm Meal

Lina begins her day just after sunrise in her village, located in a quiet corner of northern Uganda. Like many children in her community, Lina once struggled to access basic resources like breakfast or clean clothes. Now, thanks to her involvement in CharityGo, her mornings start with nutrition and stability.

At 7:00 AM, she receives a nutritious meal provided through our local school kitchen — often including rice, eggs, and fresh fruit. This daily breakfast ensures Lina has the energy and focus she needs to participate fully in her day.

School Time: Learning, Laughing, and Growing

At 8:00 AM, Lina walks to her nearby school — a structure renovated by CharityGo volunteers and powered by community-led teaching staff. She joins 35 classmates for a full day of learning and creative play.

Subjects and Activities

  • Math and reading fundamentals
  • Art and storytelling to build expression
  • Hygiene education to promote daily well-being
  • Group games that build teamwork and joy

Lina’s teachers are trained not just in academics, but also in trauma-informed care — many students in the program come from backgrounds of displacement, poverty, or loss. The classroom is a safe space where learning and healing go hand in hand.

Afternoon: A Nutritious Lunch and Emotional Support

By midday, Lina joins her peers for a warm lunch— another essential support provided by our donors. Meals are often prepared using local ingredients and sometimes grown by the community garden, which was planted with help from volunteers and older students.

After lunch, Lina participates in emotional resilience workshops led by social workers and child protection specialists. These small-group sessions include storytelling, play therapy, and conversation circles that allow children to express their feelings in a safe environment.

Evening: Helping at Home and Dreaming Big

After school ends, Lina walks home, where she helps her grandmother with small chores like collecting water or preparing dinner. Despite a difficult past, Lina now returns to a home that’s more stable — supported by CharityGo’s caregiver education and micro-support programs.

Before bed, Lina takes out her favorite book (a gift from her sponsor) and reads aloud to her younger cousin. She dreams of one day becoming a teacher — so she can help others the way her teachers have helped her.
